 The First ‘It Ends With Us’ Trailer Has Dropped




The first trailer for the It Ends With Us movie adaptation has dropped and, understandably, #BookTok is losing its mind.


If you have spent any amount of time on TikTok in recent years then you might have heard the title It Ends With Us. Written by author, Colleen Hoover, the novel was released in 2016 and has sold more than four million copies since. Now, the novel’s dedicated fan following is being treated to a big screen rendition, with a movie adaptation starring Blake Lively in the lead role dropping imminently.


Until now, #BookTok has been left to speculate about what a movie adaptation of It Ends With Us would actually look like, but with the release of the film’s first trailer, that’s all about to change. Fans of the novel were treated to a two minute-long preview of the film (set to a backing track of Taylor Swift’s ‘My Tears Ricochet,’ no less) and it’s everything we’d hoped for and more.

What Is It Ends With Us About?

It Ends With Us follows the character Lily Bloom, a college graduate who moves to a new city. While there, Lily’s life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and falls in love with Ryle Kincaid, a charismatic neurosurgeon. As their relationship develops, traumas from Lily’s past start to resurface in unexpected ways.


Hoover has explained that the story is based on the relationship between her parents. Hoover’s mother suffered domestic violence at the hands of Hoover’s biological father before taking her children and leaving for good.


Why Are People Obsessed With It Ends With Us ?

It Ends With Us fans don’t only love the novel’s gripping storyline but appreciate how it tackles darker topics to do with love, healing, domestic violence and and the cycle of abuse. The story has been credited with it’s sensitive handling of the topics, and for its empathetic portrayal of domestic violence survivors.


The novel’s fans tend to be extremely attached to the protagonist Lily, and highly invested in her relationships. The release of a sequel, It Starts With Us, also gave readers an opportunity to experience another character, Atlas’s point of view, which further deepened the connection to the story.


What Do We Know About The It Ends With Us Movie?

The movie adaptation has cast Blake Lively in the role of Lily Bloom and Justin Baldoni as Ryle Kincaid. Atlas will be portrayed by Brandon Sklenar.


The casting was initially met with criticism from fans, who believed Blake Lively had aged of the character’s age bracket.


When Does It Ends With Us Premiere In Australia?

There’s not too much longer until we’ll be able to enjoy It Ends With Us on the big screen. The official premiere date is slated for August 9, 2024.


There is currently no information regarding where It Ends With Us will be streamed, however, some have predicted Prime Video, Netflix or Apple TV+.
